Hispanic communities throughout the nation have a persistent need for financial education. This need prevents many Hispanic families and individuals from reaching their true financial potential and the long-term economic security they seek, even if they have enough means and income. Clearpoint has listened to their needs and has answered by creating an advising and education program, offered free of charge, through the Hispanic Center for Financial Excellence (HCFE).
The Hispanic Center for Financial Excellence is a branch of Clearpoint Credit Counseling Solutions. The Center and its holistic approach to education and financial advising were designed by Hispanics for Hispanics to help them regain control of their finances. The HCFE was originally created in Norcross, Georgia in 2012 thanks to a generous private donation. Since then, the HCFE has grown and expanded to Miami, Florida. The HCFE’s main goal is to educate and guide Hispanic individuals and families to reach short- and long-term financial goals so that they can build economic security. Here’s an inspiring client story, to help explain the work we do.
The HCFE offers diverse services with the main goal of guiding the Hispanic families or individuals to their financial goals. One of our most popular services is teaching clients to understand and successfully navigate the US financial system, establish and re-establish credit, manage a monthly budget and credit effectively, dispute errors on the credit report, start saving for long-term financial goals and build family assets.
The HCFE offers a unique opportunity for the Hispanic community to access education and financial advising that takes their financial needs and culture into account. We start by getting to know the people who will become our clients. We discuss their financial goals and establish a detailed personalized action plan to help them reach their goals step by step. Currently, our clients can maintain ongoing counseling sessions with the advisors for up to a year or until the clients are able to handle the situation on their own.
Thanks to generous grants that we have received, the HCFE offers all of its services free of charge. Since our grand opening, private foundations and local business have supported us because they believe and trust in our mission to educate and guide the Hispanic community toward financial security.
Although the HCFE is still very young, the Hispanic community has welcomed us with open arms. We have met many of our goals in teaching and preparing clients to secure the financial future they seek. We have helped all of our clients improve their knowledge of the US financial system. We have also helped most of our clients participate in financial literacy classes, create emergency savings funds and resolve errors on their credit reports. And, one of our biggest accomplishments is the growth we’ve experienced thanks to the recommendations and referrals we have received from our clients.
If you need some help or one-one-one guidance and you live in Georgia or Florida, please don’t hesitate to contact one of our advisors at the HCFE. Counseling is available in person and over the phone; just contact us through one of the methods below to get started. If you don’t live in one of these states, don’t worry, we can still help. We offer similar services throughout the nation that are available in person, over the phone or online.
